| January: | Most births occur the second half of the month. Pups are nursing. Males and females breed. First females to arrive begin leaving the rookery. |
| February: | Most mating occurs mid-month. Females depart. |
| March: | Pups are weaned; most adults are gone. Weaners learn to swim. |
| April: | Weaners are still on the beach. Females and juveniles come ashore to molt. Most weaners leave for their first migration by the end of the month. |
| May: | Females and juveniles molt. |
| June: | Subadult males come in to molt. |
| July: | Subadult and adult males molt. |
| August: | The last of the males molt. |
September- November: | Juveniles haul out to rest. |
